Prime Minister Narendra Modi is celebrating his 73nd birthday today, September 17 and several programmes have been lined up across the country to celebrate the day. He was born on September 17, 1950, in Gujarat's Vadnagar, a small and nondescript town nestled in the Mehsana district of North Gujarat.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has been celebrating PM Modi's birthday as a 'Day of Service' for many years by organising national events and welfare activities on the day. This year too, the party has planned 'Seva Pakhwada' from September 17 to October 2, marking the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. Notably, the Prime Minister himself takes part in nation-building activities on his birthday, as seen in the past.
He will dedicate to the nation Phase 1 of India International Convention and Expo Centre (IICC), called ‘Yashobhoomi’, at Dwarka, New Delhi today at 11 AM. Prime Minister will also inaugurate the extension of the Delhi Airport Metro Express line from Dwarka Sector 21 to a new metro station ‘Yashobhoomi Dwarka Sector 25’.

Year 2018
PM Modi celebrated his 68th birthday in his parliamentary constituency, Varanasi, in Uttar Pradesh. During his two-day visit, he laid the foundation stone of various development projects amounting to Rs 500 crore.
Year 2019
On his 69th birthday, PM Modi visited the Statue of Unity in his home state of Gujarat and attended the 'Namami Narmada' festival, celebrated by the Gujarat government to mark the filling up of the dam to its full reservoir.
Year 2020
The 70th celebrations of PM Modi's birthday were blemished by the COVID-19 pandemic. The BJP, however. however organised several events, aimed at public service and welfare, across the country.
Year 2021
To mark the prime minister's 71st birthday, the country witnessed the launch of a special COVID-19 vaccination drive under which 2.26 crore vaccines were administered on a single day.
Year 2022
Breaking the two-year-long isolation due to the pandemic, the Prime Minister on his 72nd birthday, released cheetahs flown in from Namibia into special enclosures at Kuno National Park in Madhya Pradesh as part of a project to reintroduce the big cats in India.
