Hours after Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged the world to say 'goodbye to single-use plastic' during his address in the 14th Conference of Parties (COP Summit) on Monday, television presenter Bear Grylls backed him. Taking to Twitter, he responded on PM Modi's statement taht India has decided to ban the use of single-use plastic. He said that it is great moment to conserve the future of the world.

PM Modi on Monday at a session of United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) in Greater Noida,stated that the menace of plastic waste is a form of land degradation. Addressing the gathering based on the theme 'Investing in Land, Unlocking Opportunities', PM Modi said, "I call upon the leadership of UNCCD to create a global water action agenda which is central to the land degradation neutrality strategy."  He also added, "Apart from having adverse health implications, the use of plastic is going to render lands unproductive and unfit for agriculture."

PM Modi said that India is now committed to the development of environment-friendly substitutes and also has an efficient plastic collection and plastic disposable method. According to PM Modi, human empowerment is closely linked to the state of the environment. He stated that even if a number of frameworks are introduced, the implementation of any plan is possible with teamwork. In his speech, he gave an example of India's Swachh Bharat Mission where he gave the statistics of the sanitation coverage.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi featured in Discovery channel's show 'Man Vs Wild' with Bear Grylls, which aired on television of August 12. It was officially declared world’s most trending televised event. The announcement was made by Bear Grylls on Twitter wherein he informed that with 3.6 billion impressions, Man Vs Wild featuring PM Modi has beaten Super Bowl 53 which had 3.4 billion social impressions.  In the episode, walking through the wild and taking a ride on a cold river in a makeshift boat were some of the things that the Prime Minister put up. With survivalist Bear Grylls, the PM promoted a cause close to his heart-protecting nature. On Discovery channel's, "Man Vs Wild with Bear Grylls and Prime Minister Modi", he braved the rain and cold in the jungles of Jim Corbett National Park in Uttarakhand, and as the host put it, the PM was a "great sport".
