PM Narendra Modi on Thursday in a speech spanning over thirty minutes spoke about the situation in Jammu and Kashmir following its complete integration with India. He spoke about the revocation of Article 370 and the reorganization of the region into Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory and Ladakh Union Territory. He spoke about these changes would help the people of the region as being under Centre's rule would ensure fast-paced development and increased ease of living for the people.

Several leaders from the BJP, other parties, and Bollywood celebrities have reacted to PM Modi's speech. Hailing the word leader, veteran actor Anupam Kher said that he is 'certainly the most inspirational political leader in the world'.
Meanwhile, speaking about Jammu and Kashmir becoming a Union Territory, Prime Minister Modi said, "We have decided to bring Jammu and Kashmir under the Centre's rule as since the region has been under Governor's rule, the administration is in touch with the Centre. Due to this, good governance and development can be seen on the ground."

"We will free Jammu and Kashmir from terrorism. When this heaven on earth, Jammu and Kashmir, will surpass everyone in development, ease of living for citizens will be increased, then I don't think Jammu and Kashmir will need to remain under Centre's purview, but yes Ladakh will remain a Union Territory.", he further added.

Revocation of Article 370 & 35 A
Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday moved the resolution to abolish Article 370 that gave special status to Jammu and Kashmir in Lok Sabha, a day after it was passed by Rajya Sabha. Speaking in the Lower House of the Parliament, the Home Minister asserted that Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) and Aksai Chin are part of Jammu and Kashmir and that Kashmir Valley is an integral part of the country.
While addressing Rajya Sabha on Monday, the Home Minister also announced that the government has decided to bifurcate Jammu and Kashmir into two Union territories – Jammu and Kashmir, which will have a legislature, and Ladakh, which will be without a legislature.
