The Union Government is going to auction about 19,00 gifts received by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to raise funds for flagship project 'Namani Gange' that has been initiated to accomplish twin objectives of effective abatement of pollution, conservation and rejuvenation of the River Ganga, according to a statement.

The Union Government is going to auction about 19,00 gifts received by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to raise funds for flagship project 'Namani Gange' that has been initiated to accomplish twin objectives of effective abatement of pollution, conservation and rejuvenation of the River Ganga, according to a statement.

'Namani Gange' project endeavours to deploy best available knowledge and resources across the world for Ganga rejuvenation.

The items that are scheduled to be auctioned include paintings, sculptures, shawls, pagris, jackets and traditional musical instruments that PM Modi received from leaders from across the country.

As per the statement, "the physical auction will be conducted on January 27 and 28, 2019 at National Gallery of Modern Art, New Delhi from 12.00 pm onwards. The e-auction will take place subsequently from January 29-30, 2019 for remaining items left after the physical auction."

The mementos range between the prices from Rs 100 to Rs 30,000 with the highest base price of Rs 30,000 of a 2.22 kg silver plate gifted to Prime Minister Modi by former BJP MP C. Narasimhan on May 6, 2016. Furthermore, the memento with the lowest base price at the auction is of Rs 100 for an 800 grams idol of Lord Hanuman.

The items are currently on display at the National Gallery of Modern Art, which comes under the Ministry of Culture.
