Police Seize 3 kg of Ganja in Coimbatore, Eight Arrested

Coimbatore: In a crackdown, five men and three students were arrested in Tamil Nadu's Coimbatore with 3kg of ganja, police said on Monday.
According to police, a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) was carried out at Sulur, Chettipalayam, and Kovilpalayam police jurisdictions, where most students were staying in rental rooms and rental houses.
The accused have been identified as N Naveenkumar (21), P Prakash (22), N Deepak (21) among others.
Police officials said that they were students of a private college in Sulur. Police also seized four knives from their rooms.
Later, two more people were arrested who were involved in murder and attempted murder cases.
Earlier, two persons were arrested by the Tirupattur Taluk police for possession of ganja during a routine patrol at the checkpost in Vengalapuram village near Tirupattur town on Thursday.The arrested persons were identified as S. Ravindran, 24, and V. Bhoopalan, 29. They belong to Tirupattur town. The police said six kg of ganja, Rs 8,000 in cash, and the lorry in which they were traveling were seized.
