Policeman killed, two others injured after Nihangs open fire in Punjab

Senior officials have rushed to the site and police personnel in large numbers have been deployed in the area

Punjab: A police constable was killed in a tragic altercation with a group of Nihang Sikhs in Kapurthala district. Three ors were injured as well. incident took place in Sultanpur Lodhi when police came to arrest some Nihangas in connection to a registered case. Nihangs forcibly captured a Gurudwara in district. According to sources, 30-35 Nihangs are inside Gurudwara and have locked it from inside. y used .315 rifle for firing on police. 

Tejbir Singh Hundal, Superintendent of Police (Headquarters), Kapurthala, informed that Nihangs targeted police officers while y were positioned on road. After taking over a gurudwara with force, armed group opened fire on police when y asked m to vacate.

One constable tragically died from gunshot wounds during altercation, and three ors were hurt. police have cordoned off area as Nihangs are still firing from gurudwara's terrace.

Compensation for deceased anunced, sec 145 imposed

As per sources, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has declared compensation of one crore rupees for deceased police officer's family. This amount will be transferred to martyr's family from his insurance company via bank transfer.

Section 145 of Criminal Procedure Code (CRPC) has also been imposed in area, putting administration in charge of Gurdwara. Following altercation, nine people were injured, including six police officers and three Nihang Sikhs. Unfortunately, one police officer was killed in exchange of fire.

In response to tense situation, a large police presence has been deployed to evacuate Gurdwara premises. situation is still evolving as authorities work towards restoring order and ensuring safety of all individuals involved.
