2014 vs 2019: Here are the changes in the ministers and their portfolios in the Modi Cabinet 2.0 from the original Modi Sarkar
A day after PM Modi and 57 ministers took the oath-to-the-office in a grand ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan, President Ram Nath Kovind has announced the list of ministries assigned to all the minister under Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led Cabinet 2.0.

While new entrant to the Cabinet, BJP president Amit Shah has been appointed as the new Home Minister replacing Rajnath Singh, former Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is the new Minister of Finance and Minister of Corporate Affairs, among other changes.

From 2014 (then) to 2019 (now), here's how the first Modi Ministry has evolved in the new Cabinet 2.0:
1. Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of India and,
Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions

2. Rajnath Singh
THEN: Rajnath Singh served as the Union Home Minister during the 1st Modi tenure.

NOW: He has been assigned the Ministry of Defence in the new Cabinet 2.0.
3. Amit Shah
THEN: In 2014, BJP chief Amit Shah was not a part of the Modi Cabinet.
NOW: He has been appointed as the Minister of Home Affairs in the current government.
4. Nitin Gadkari
THEN: Nitin Gadkari served as the Union Minister of Road Transport & Highways, Shipping and Water Resources, River Development & Ganga Rejuvenation during the first term of the Modi government.
NOW: In 2019, the MP from Nagpur has been appointed as the Minister of Road Transport and Highways; and Minister of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).
5. DV Sadananda Gowda
THEN: In 2014, Modi government Sadananda Gowda was the Union Minister of Statistics, Programme Implementation, and Chemical and Fertilizer
NOW: In 2019, Sadananda Gowda has retained the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers.
6. Nirmala Sitharaman
THEN: Nirmala Sitharaman served as the first the Minister of Commerce & Industry and after which she was elevated to Defence Minister in September 2017 during the first Modi government
NOW: In 2019, Sitharaman has been appointed as the Minister of Finance; and Minister of Corporate Affairs.
7. Ram Vilas Paswan
THEN: During the NDA government of 2014, LJP chief Ram Vilas Paswan was the Union Cabinet Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution
NOW: In 2019, he has retained the position as the new Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution.
8. Narendra Singh Tomar
THEN: Narendra Singh Tomar has held the portfolios for Minister of Rural Development, Panchayat Raj, Mines and Parliamentary Affairs previously.
NOW: He has been appointed as the Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, while retaining the position of Minister of Rural Development and Minister of Panchayati Raj in 2019.
9. Ravi Shankar Prasad
THEN: Held multiple profiles during the first Modi Ministry, Ravi Shankar Prasad served as the Union Minister for Law and Justice and Minister of Electronics and Information Technology previously.
NOW: The newly-appointed BJP MP from Patna Sahib constituency has been assigned the Ministry of Law and Justice; Ministry of Communications; and Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.
10. Harsimrat Kaur Badal
THEN: In 2014, she was the lone SAD (Shiromani Akali Dal) cabinet minister and held the office of the Union Cabinet Minister of Food Processing
NOW: She takes the charge of Minister of Food Processing Industries in the new government
11. Thawar Chand Gehlot
THEN: Thawar Chand Gehlot was Union Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment during the first term of the Modi Government
NOW: He has appointed as the Union Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment in the current government as well.
12. Dr Subrahmayam Jaishankar
THEN: Former Foreign Secretary, Dr Jaishankar did not hold a ministerial position during the 2014 Modi government.
NOW: In the 2019 NDA government, he has been given the charge of Minister of External Affairs, replacing Sushma Swaraj
13. Ramesh Pokhriyal 'Nishank'
THEN: He has not held any position in the previous ministries.
NOW: In 2019, Ramesh Pokhriyal has appointed as the Minister of Human Resource Development.
14. Arjun Munda
THEN: He has held not hold any position in the previous ministries.
NOW: He has been appointed as the Minister of Tribal Affairs in the new Cabinet.
15. Smriti Irani
THEN: Smriti Irani has held the office of Ministry for Textiles(2019), Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (2017) and Ministry of Human Resource Development (2014)
NOW: Current BJP MP from Amethi Smriti Irani has been appointed as the Minister of Women and Child Development and has retained the Minister of Textiles in 2019
16. Dr Harsh Vardhan
THEN: The BJP MP from Delhi has served as the Union Minister for Science & Technology, Earth Sciences, Environment, Forests and Climate Change
NOW: In 2019, he has been appointed as the Minister of Health and Family Welfare; Minister of Science and Technology; and Minister of Earth Sciences.
17. Prakash Javadekar
THEN: Prakash Javadekar has worked as the Union Minister of Human Resource Development and Minister of Information and Broadcasting during the previous NDA government
NOW: He has now been appointed as the Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change along with the Minister of Information and Broadcasting.
18. Piyush Goyal
THEN: He served as the Union Minister of Railways and Coal, Mines and Minister of Finance and Corporate Affairs during the 2014 government
NOW: He has been appointed as the Minister of Railways and Minister of Commerce and Industry.
19. Dharmendra Pradhan
THEN: He previously served as the Union Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas and Minister of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship during the previous NDA government
NOW: Now he has been appointed as the Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas and Minister of Steel.
20. Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi
THEN: He has served as Union Minister of Minority Affairs during the previous government.
NOW: Naqvi has regained his post as the Minister of Minority Affairs in the current government
21. Prahlad Joshi
THEN: Prahlad Joshi did not serve in the previous ministry.
NOW: He has been appointed in multiple portfolios as the Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, Minister of Coal and Minister of Mines.
22. Dr. Mahendra Nath Pandey
THEN: He earlier served as the Union Minister of State for Ministry of Human Resource Development
NOW: He has been assigned the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship
23. Arvind Sawant
THEN: The Shiv Sena MP from Mumbai South held no position in the previous ministry
NOW: In 2019 NDA government, Arvind Sawant has been appointed as the Minister of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprise
24. Giriraj Singh
THEN: Giriraj Singh served as the Minister of State (Independent Charge) of the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises during the first NDA government.
NOW: Currently, a BJP MP from Begusarai, Singh has been appointed as the Union Minister of Animal Husbandry, Dairying and Fisheries.
25. Gajendra Singh Shekhawat
THEN: He previously served as the Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare
NOW: In 2019 government, Mr Shekhawat has been appointed as the Minister of Jal Shakti, which has newly been formed by the NDA government.
