Aaditya Thackeray's poll victory: Anil Kapoor, Vivek Oberoi react

As Aaditya Thackeray won the Worli seat in his debut appearance in the elections, Bollywood stars like Anil Kapoor, Vivek Oberoi reacted with extreme joy.

The Thackerays have been in politics for many decades, but Aaditya Thackeray became  the first from the family to contest an election. There were no surprises as far as the results were concerned as the youngster won the Worli seat by close to 70,000 votes. Several stars from the film fraternity also congratulated Aaditya Thackeray as he joined the Maharashtra State Assembly as an MLA. Anil Kapoor and Vivek Oberoi were among those who congratulated the Shiv Sena Youth President, the former terming it as a ‘well-deserved’ victory while the latter praised Aaditya for carrying forward the legacy of his ‘legendary grandfather’ Bal Thackeray.

Aaditya Thackeray received 89,248 votes and beat Suresh Mane of the Congress by 67,247 votes. After his victory, he conveyed his delight and gratitude on Twitter, writing in multiple posts, “Thank you Worli for accepting me as your elected representative. The love and blessings showered by voters is a huge sense of responsibility and joy. I will do my best to serve all tirelessly. The election results in Maharashtra are truly the real voice of democracy and informed voters. Along with that, the tremendous support to @ShivSena in such a humbling verdict for govt, is encouragement to keep our voice stronger for the people. To all those across Maharashtra who voted for us, thank you. We will live up to the faith you have placed in us. To those who didn’t vote for us, we will win you over with our work. To all those who are elected as MLAs of the 2019 Vidhan Sabha, across Party lines, big congratulations! We have now a responsibility to work for the State, together. To all my colleagues in the Party, your efforts is the sole reason that brought us this win. A big thank you to all important stake holders across the State for their support. And a thank you to my large hearted predecessor  @misunilshinde ji for letting me contest on his seat.”

B-Town joins in the celebrations 

Anil Kapoor was among the first celebrities to react to Aaditya's post, tweeting in reply, “Congratulations MLA @AUThackeray! This is a well deserved win! Looking forward to your term! #MaharashtraElections2019 #MaharashtraAssemblyPolls."

Vivek Oberoi shared another snap of Aaditya posing with a photograph of his grandfather and Shiv Sena founder, Bal Thackeray in the background and captioned it, “Congrats @AUThackeray for carrying forward the legacy of your legendary grandfather #BalaSahebThackeray! @uddhavthackeray dada and every member of  @ShivSena must be so proud! From a legendary history to a progressive future! Wish you all the best brother! #MaharashtraElections.”

The Bharatiya Janata Party-Shiv Sena alliance is all set to form the next government in Maharashtra. The partnership won  161 seats for the Maharashtra Vidhan Sabha in the results announced on Thursday. Though Aaditya Thackeray was being tipped for the Chief Minister post as per some reports, he is likely to take over as the Deputy CM, the youngest from the state in all probability.
