AAP approaches Delhi Assembly Speaker, seeks disqualification of its two rebel MLAs who joined the BJP
The two MLAs - Anil Bajpai and Devinder Sehrawat - had been openly critical of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and had joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on May 3 and May 6 respectively.

AAP on Wednesday approached Delhi Assembly Speaker, seeking disqualification of its two rebel MLAs who joined BJP ahe of Lok Sabha polls, party spokesperson Saurabh Bharwaj said.
two MLAs - Anil Bajpai and Devinder Sehrawat - h been openly critical of Aam Ami Party (AAP) and h joined Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on May 3 and May 6 respectively.

Mr Bharwaj confirmed that a petition has been moved against rebel MLAs, seeking ir disqualification from assembly.

AAP's action comes months ahe of Assembly polls in Delhi. While Mr Sehrawat said he h received a tice from speaker, Mr Bajpai said re is merit in AAP's petition as case of office of profit against him is still subjudice.
"Under existing laws, y (AAP) have t issued a proper tice. Even on BJP dais, I h said that I have t taken party membership... re is a due process before seeking my disqualification and I have t received any tice directly from AAP," Mr Sehrawat said.

He said while AAP is seeking his disqualification, n BJP MPs Shatrughan Sinha and Kirti Az h participated in several AAP programmes in run up to Lok Sabha polls.
Mr Bajpai said, " decision on my membership to Legislative Assembly is still pending."

Last year, Delhi High Court restored membership of 20 disqualified AAP MLAs and referred case back to Election Commission (EC). HC h said disqualification of AAP MLAs was b in law, and refore remanded ir plea back to EC which will hear it afresh.
