After Delhi, now Jharkhand bans Chhath Puja at water bodies due to COVID; BJP objects

In view of rising COVID-19 cases in national capital, Chhath Puja in public ponds, lakes and rivers has been banned by Delhi government. Following suit, on Sunday, Jharkhand government has also banned Chhath Puja at public ponds, lakes, rivers, dams, reservoirs. guidelines said that since it is t possible to ensure compliance of national directive of social distancing rm of 'do gaz ki doori' while performing Chhath Puja, refore ban is being imposed.
Or restrictions that have been imposed are - stalls of any kind near banks of any public any or water body, bursting of firecrackers is permitted in public places, musical or any or entertainment/ cultural program.

Delhi bans Chhath Puja due to COVID
An order issued by Chief Secretary and Delhi Disaster Manment Authority (DDMA) executive committee chairman Vijay Dev on Tuesday issued directions to all district magistrates (DMs) and deputy commissioners of police (DCPs) for strict compliance and to encour people to celebrate Chhath at ir homes during pandemic.
It also directed DMs and DCPs to hold meetings with religious and community leers as well as Chhath Puja Samitis before festival to get ir cooperation to maintain law and order and harmony, and to sensitise public on compliance of guidelines and instructions to combat COVID-19.

Chhath Puja is celebrated in Delhi in a big way by natives of Bihar and eastern UP. two-day festival, falling on vember 20-21 this year, involves worship of Sun God at a water body like a river, pond or tank.

BJP slams Kejriwal
BJP on Friday slammed Delhi government for banning Chhath Puja. " Delhi government has opened all markets and DTC busses are plying with social distancing. same government is banning puja in name of Covid-19. This is clearly a failure of this government. Rar than banning celebrations, arrangements should have been me to ensure "do gaz ki doori" (social distancing)," Delhi BJP chief esh Gupta told news ncy ANI.
