'Aim is to make farmers self-reliant': Haryana CM opines after meeting Tomar amid stir

On Tuesday, Haryana Chief Minister Mahar Lal Khattar met Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar in national capital to discuss farmers' issues. He maintained that interest of farmers is paramount for Haryana government. Tomar assured Khattar that re is threat to Minimum Support Price.
Condemning petty politics by opposition parties, Haryana CM asserted that aim of government is to make farmers self-reliant. Speaking to media, BJP leer expressed hope that 6th round of talks between Centre and farmers' unions will yield dividends. According to m, many farmers were against repealing of farm laws but just wanted some amendments to be passed.

Haryana CM Mahar Lal Khattar remarked, 'Some farmers are amant (on repealing laws), while re are or farmers who want some amendments. y are saying that bills should remain. Centre will take a decision in interest of farmers."

Section of Haryana farmers argue against repeal of laws
A day earlier, 20 farmers from Haryana met Tomar on and expressed ir support for agrarian laws. A majority of farmers' associations have been demanding repeal of Farmers' Produce Tre and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act, 2020, Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement of Price Assurance and Farm Services Act, 2020 and Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act, 2020 and anunced a Bharat Bandh. Led by Pma Shri awardee Kanwal Singh Chouhan, delegation comprised of both individual farmers and representatives of farmer producer organizations.
On this occasion, Tomar conveyed benefits of laws to m and stressed that se reforms will bring private investment, create jobs in vills and make agriculture profitable. He slammed Congress and opposition parties for t implementing recommendations of Swamination Commission from 2006 to 2014. On or hand, group of farmers urged Centre to consider amending agrarian laws as suggested by unions. While observing that laws should t be repealed, y demanded continuity of MSP and mandi system.
