Akhilesh Yadav opposes 'anti-farmer' Agriculture bills, says 'BJP government will be out'

Targetting Centre over Farm bills passed by Lok Sabha on September 17, Samajwi Party (SP) leer Akhilesh Yav on Friday said that bills will le to corporate houses gaining control over farmlands. Lok Sabha has passed Essential Commodities (Amendment) Bill, 2020, Farmers' Produce Tre and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Bill, 2020 and Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement of Price Assurance and Farm Services Bill, 2020.
Speaking to ANI, former Uttar Presh Chief Minister said that Bills are "anti-farmer" and ded that that Agriculture Bills will bring farmers under control of corporate houses.

"se Bills are anti-farmer and a conspiracy against farmers. In se difficult times, farmers saved our ecomy but w big industrialists are eyeing farming which will render farmers like labourers. If we do corporate farming in country it means ir farms will be lost and y will t be able to farm produce of ir choice," said Akhilesh.
Furr opining on resignation of Shiromani Akali Dal (S) leer Harsimrat Bal from NDA over this issue, Yav said that BJP will be out day farmers kw about Agriculture Bills. "This is just beginning, day farmers have full kwledge about law being me, BJP government will be out," he ded.

three central laws, promulgated through ordinances are facing massive protests by farmers' groups in Haryana, UP, and or parts of country after it was alleged that ordinances would leave m at mercy of market forces.

Harsimrat Bal resigns
Harsimrat Kaur Bal and S president Sukhbir Singh Bal voted against bills. She was present in House when bills were being passed. Kaur submitted her resignation soon after party chief Sukhbir Bal anunced in Lok Sabha that she would quit Union Cabinet in protest against three farm bills.
In her resignation letter, Harsimrat Kaur Bal maintained that it was impossible for her to perform her duties as a Union Minister as S could t go against interest of farmers. She lamented that Centre did t take farmers on board despite her best attempt to persue Union Cabinet in this regard. S wanted bills concerning marketing of farmers' produce to be referred to a Select Committee. Bal stated that her decision to resign was guided by trition of her party to always defend national interest.

What are farm bills?
aforesaid bills were introduced by Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar to replace three ordinances promulgated on June 5. As per Centre, Essential Commodities Act, 1955 was amended to ensure that farmers get a good price on many commodities. Items such as food grains, oil, dal, pulses, potato have been removed from purview of this Act.

Meanwhile, Farmers' Produce Tre and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Bill, 2020 aims at freeing farmers from constraints of state Agriculture Produce Market Committees whereby y would be able to sell ir produce anywhere. On or hand, Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement of Price Assurance and Farm Services Bill, 2020 protects and empowers farmers to eng with processors, wholesalers, large retailers, exporters for farm services. Three main political parties in Punjab- Congress, AAP and Shiromani Akali Dal have united against se bills.
