Amid Congress infighting, Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh has opined that re is "too much to re" in Bihar election results and that re is need to change leership within Congress. This comes in stark contrast to what senior Congress leer Kapil Sibal said after poll debacle in Bihar. Sibal h claimed that Congress leership has a  "business as usual" mentality and grand-old party needs a change as people do t consider it an alternative.

On Thursday, in a video statement, Amarinder Singh disagreed and said, "If you are a Congressman, you can go to party president or Congress Working Committee with any problem you may have with party functioning. But you should t go out to air your grievances. If you want to do that, you can leave party."

Congress and leership dilemma

Sibal, one of 23 senior Congress leers who h expressed dissatisfaction with party's leership in a letter a few months earlier, again raised probing questions after debacle in Bihar Assembly election and bypolls. While Senior leers P Chidambaram and Ghulam Nabi Az backed him, Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot publicly slammed Sibal's criticism of party. In a stinging attack, hir Ranjan Chowdhury said that those speaking against party are free to join ar party and Salman Khurshid urged internal critics to look within mselves for flaws.

It must be ted that dissenting voices h risen in Congress party a few months ago against backdrop of fight between Sachin Pilot and Ashok Gehlot in Rajasthan. Sibal and Ghulam Nabi Az h n spoken openly against Central leership of Gandhis. However, interim Congress chief Sonia Gandhi was able to quash rebellion and h assured party members of reviewing raised demands.

Congress has been in a leership dilemma since Rahul Gandhi quit as party chief in post-Lok Sabha 2019 debacle. This led to a barr of resignations from various posts. Amidst a lot of turmoil with Priyanka Vra also being considered, Congress finally went back to ir safe option and named Sonia Gandhi as its interim chief. Some loyalists have time and again implored 50-year-old Rahul Gandhi to take back reins of party, at a time when grand old party has lost prominent leers like Jyotiritya Scindia, Khushbu Sundar, to BJP.
