Amid Coronavirus, BJP MPs prefer 'Namaste' greeting at Parliamentary party meeting

BJP MPs on Tuesday were spotted greeting each other with a Namaste instead of a handshake as a precautionary measure against Coronavirus

impact of Coronavirus pandemic was witnessed at  BJP's Parliamentary party meeting on Tuesday, as leers at meeting were spotted greeting each or with 'namaste' inste of shaking hands.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also greeted ors with Namaste. During meeting, Prime Minister also praised doctors and officials who are working to combat spre of disease. He also appealed MPs to visit ir respective constituencies and spre awareness about ways to contain spre of virus.

During parliamentary party meeting, Union Health Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan informed MPs about steps being taken by Centre and state to combat global pandemic.  BJP MP Rajkumar Chahar arrived for meeting wearing a cap with 'Karo Na Handshake-Karo Namaste' written on it. As a precautionary measure, leers were only allowed to enter meeting room after undergoing rmal screening.

Several MPs have demanded ongoing budget session of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha to be cut short as a precautionary measure against Coronavirus.

Coronavirus in India

According to latest figures available on Tuesday,  total number of positive cases of Coronavirus in India has soared up to 126 as per Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. Three deaths have been reported in Karnataka, Maharashtra, and West Delhi respectively. India has suspended all visas, barring for a few categories such as diplomatic and employment apart from keeping in abeyance visa-free travel facility to OCI cardholders till April 15.

Moreover, Centre has “strongly vised” Indians to avoid all n-essential travel abro. government is also monitoring all suspected cases and has issued preventive visories.

Taking into consideration rising number of Coronavirus cases, Central Government on March 14 decided to treat dely virus as a "tified disaster." government has also decided to go into a partial lockdown as it ordered shut down of all educational institutions, places of social garings like swimming pools, spas, gyms, museums, and cultural centers.
