This comes amid huge drama in Congress Working Committee meeting where Wayan MP accused dissenting leers of colluding with BJP. 4 senior Congress leers logged off from CWC meeting, leaving in protest against former Congress president's comments. Ahmed Patel is kwn to be closest aide of Sonia Gandhi.
As per sources, Rahul Gandhi's camp has said that details of letter should t have been released to media. y observed that any grievances raised by party members should be discussed in CWC and t before media. Earlier in day, Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi offered to resign. Sonia Gandhi h taken over responsibility on August 10, 2019, after Rahul Gandhi stepped down from post following Congress party's debacle in 2019 Lok Sabha polls.

Rahul Gandhi's charge about colluding with BJP sparked angry reactions from Ghulam Nabi Az, Kapil Sibal and ors. Az offered to resign whereas Sibal hit out on Twitter. Congress leers call for sweeping changes
Reportedly, several Congress leers wrote to Congress president on August 12 calling for sweeping changes in party's functioning. As per suspended Congress spokesperson Sanjay Jha, more than 300 leers representing all regions and states are signatories to letter. Some of senior leers who have reportedly signed letter include Leer of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Az, Anand Sharma, Manish Tewari, Milind Deora, Mukul Wasnik, Jitin Prasa, Bhupinder Singh Hooda, and Prithviraj Chavan.

Highlighting challenges faced by India, leers argued that revival of Congress party is a national imperative. y stressed that uncertainly over leership and drift in party have weakened Congress and demoralized workers. y have allegedly put forth many suggestions such as need for a full-time leership available at national and state hequarters, conducting elections at all levels including Congress Working Committee and state level, formation of an Independent Election Authority, and institutional leership mechanism to guide party's revival.
