Andhra Pradesh CM Jagan Mohan Reddy appoints uncle YV Subba Reddy as Chairman Of Tirumala Temple Board

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy on Friday appointed his uncle and senior YSRCP leader YV Subba Reddy as the Chairman of Tirumala Tirupati Devastanam (TTD) Board, an official statement read.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy on Friday appointed his uncle and senior YSRCP leader YV Subba Reddy as the Chairman of Tirumala Tirupati Devastanam (TTD) Board, an official statement read.

Special Chief Secretary Manmohan Singh issued the government order, appointing him as chairman of the TTD board. Subba Reddy, who is also YSRCP general secretary, will take charge as TTD chairman on June 22.

Meanwhile. the other members of the TTD Board would be appointed soon, informed Mr Singh. TTD chairman is a nominated post with cabinet rank and is considered a prestigious post.

On May 23, YSRCP decimated Chandrababu Naidu’s Telugu Desam Party (TDP) in Andhra Pradesh in 2019 Lok Sabha polls and Assembly elections, by winning 151 seats out 175-seater AP assembly leaving on 23 seats for TDP and only 3 Lok Sabha seats.  Y S Jaganmohan Reddy, who led his YSR Congress Party to a thumping victory in the assembly elections, was sworn in Thursday as chief minister of Andhra Pradesh on May 30.

The 46-year old YSRCP chief had grabbed the national spotlight earlier when he reviewed and renamed various schemes and policies launched by the previous government in the state under former CM and Telugu Desam Party (TDP) chief N Chandrababu Naidu. Apart from renaming schemes, Reddy also appointed five Deputy Chief Ministers - one each from Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe, Backward Castes, Minority, and Kapu community.

He had also directed the officials to consider supplying drinking water through pipelines to prevent pollution as the number of tanks getting polluted due to increasing Aquaculture. On June 4, the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister had also met the acting Chief Justice of the Andhra Pradesh High Court, C Praveen Kumar requesting him to constitute a special judicial commission to bring about reforms in the tendering policy. Alongside he also asked for one high court judge to be allocated for the commission to ensure that all forms of corruptions have been curbed and to bring back public money into the exchequer.
