In a major political development in the state of Andhra Pradesh, Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy has fulfilled his poll promise of providing reservation to the youths of Andhra Pradesh. The Andhra Pradesh assembly on July 22, Monday passed a bill which reserves 75 % jobs for Andhra domiciles in all private industrial units and factories, irrespective of whether these companies receive aid from the government.
The Andhra Pradesh Employment of Local Candidates in Industries/ Factories Bill which is now The Andhra Pradesh Employment of Local Candidates in Industries/ Factories Act 2019 was approved by the assembly which reserves 75 percent jobs for state's youths. The bill stated that if an industrial unit fails to find enough skilled local workers then kit will train them in association with the state government. The company is also required to act in accordance with the new law and submit a report. During poll campaign, Jagan had promised reservation for people of Andhra Pradesh in private jobs.

Informing about the Bill, Jagan Mohan Reddy said that this is a first and foremost development in the country:
The Bill however states that those companies which are included in the First schedule of the Companies Act are liable to be exempted from the Act. A decision on the same will be taken on a case-by-case basis after the eligible companies file an application for exemption.

Meanwhile, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath too had said earlier that his government wants to ensure 70 per cent jobs to locals. He said: "All incentives that we give, can be availed by the industries only when the 70 per cent of the employment is local, from Madhya Pradesh. There are many industries where people from others states are employed, from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh… I am not criticising them but our youth from Madhya Pradesh are denied jobs. So industries which employ 70 per cent local youth will only be able to avail the incentives,” Kamal Nath had said.
