Arvind Sawant lauds the impostion of NRC, demands the same in Mumbai

The Shiv Sena leader and Union Minister Arvind Sawant praised the decision of the government issuing the NRC list, demanding the same to be done in Mumbai.

A few hours after Centre issued National Register of Citizens (NRC) for Assam on August 31, Shiv Sena leer and Union Minister Arvind Sawant emphasised on  need to 'weed out a large number of immigrants illegally living' in metropolis and demanded same exercise in Mumbai. ding to his statements, he said that Shiv Sena was first to raise issue of Bangleshis illegally residing in India. "This will hold good for unity and internal security of country," he asserted.

Shiv Sena extols government's decision, Backs NRC

Sawant furr said, "NRC was much needed in Assam to solve problems of original inhabitants of region. That is why we supported NRC move by government and want a similar exercise to be held in Mumbai to drive out Bangleshis living here, once process is over in Assam." Extolling decision of government he ded, " NRC move in Assam will make it possible to find out how many people from Banglesh are living in state illegally. It was very important to conduct it re. It was a matter of national security. Sanjay Raut, Party Editor of Shiv Sena, said, "re are nearly 1 crore Bangleshis in Greater Mumbai, Thane, Navi Mumbai and in larger Mumbai Metropolitan Region but y are where on record."

Assam NRC 

final list of NRC in Assam was published on August 31, with over 3 crore people being included in list, excluding 19 lakh people from  list.  NRC has been updated to include names of those persons (or ir descendants), who appear in NRC, 1951, or in any of Electoral Rolls up to midnight of 24th March, 1971 or in any one of or missible documents issued up to midnight of 24th March, 1971, which would prove ir presence in Assam or in any part of India on or before 24th March, 1971. Prakash Javekar, Union Minister of Information and Brocasting said that people excluded from final list of NRC can make an appeal in court and he assured justice for debarred.
