As Aaditya blames Centre for Bandra incident, Sena praises PM Modi's COVID lockdown speech

The Shiv Sena on Wednesday praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the speech he delivered on Tuesday while extending the nationwide lockdown till May 3.

This comes after Maharashtra Tourism Minister Aitya Thackeray on Tuesday blamed Centre for protest by hundreds of migrant workers near Bandra railway station and sought a ro map to facilitate ir journey back to ir native places. In a series of tweets, Thackeray said, " current situation in Bandra, w dispersed or even rioting in Surat is a result of Union Government t being able to take a call on arranging a way back home migrant labour."

Later on Tuesday, Aitya Thackrey said Centre has taken immediate cognisance of incident where a large group of migrant workers gared at Bandra railway station. " Centre has taken immediate cognisance of issue and is assisting State actively. Thankful to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah for understanding situation," said Thackrey.

Home Minister Amit Shah h called up Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and expressed concern over garing of migrant workers. He also offered his full support to Maharashtra government.

Uddhav assures migrant workers

Uddhav Thackeray on Tuesday tried to reassure migrant workers who are stranded in state that a lockdown is t a "lock-up" and appealed to m to face "challenge" of coronavirus pandemic by staying back.

Thackeray was speaking during a live webcast after hundreds of migrant workers gared near Bandra railway station in Mumbai, seeking to he back home even as country-wide lockdown was extended till May 3. He spoke briefly in Hindi as he me a direct appeal to migrants.

Bandra garing incident 

Around 1,500 people, mostly migrant workers, gared at Bandra railway station premises on Tuesday and wanted to go to ir native places but were later dispersed, said Mumbai Police. According to Republic TV sources, local ministration h arranged ration for 'migrant workers' but people crowded spot because distribution of food was poorly organised.  A few minutes later, police personnel were seen dispersing crowd.
