Maharashtra: Ashok Chavan takes over PwD and looks to ensure no lopsided development
While speaking to ANI, Chavan said that he will ensure that the state improves it's infrastructure even more and that there is no lopsided development.

Senior Congress leer and former Maharashtra Chief Minister Ashok Chavan took over as Public Works Department (PWD) on Wednesday morning. After taking over office, Chavan spoke to news ncy ANI where he mentioned tasks for department, relation with Centre and Bharat bandh called by 10 Unions.

' lopsided development'
Chavan said, "I have taken my charge today on this auspicious occasion with blessings of God. My friends, colleagues, party workers and officials have all gared here on a special occasion. priorities are that State has suffered in last five years, Public Works department has a responsibility of creating a good infrastructure which is a part of overall development of State of Maharashtra."
"So wherever re is lopsided development we will ensure that entire State gets an equitable share and see that wherever re are serious problems, we will take m on priority and see that State gets best infrastructure through this department," he ded.

Speaking on coordination with Centre, he said, "It is t difficult. challenges have been created by earlier governments. We have to prioritise our issues within resource constraints and see that underdeveloped areas do get a share."
He furr said: "We support strike called today because government of India is on a move to sell all profitable public sector undertakings where a Navratna company like Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) is being sold today. I think government is t looking after labourers and employees who have been working re for a long time. We are on verge of selling out all profit-making undertakings. necessity is to revive m through proper planning."
