Assam polls: Aiming to oust BJP, Congress joins hands with AIUDF, AGM & 3 Left parties
Congress has announced the formation of a pre-poll alliance with AIUDF, CPI, CPI(M), CPI(ML), and Anchalik Gana Morcha for the upcoming Assam assembly elections

In a desperate attempt to overthrow ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Assam, Congress has anunced formation of a grand pre-poll alliance with All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF), CPI, CPI(M), and CPI(ML) for upcoming Assembly polls. A regional party, Anchalik Gana Morcha, led by newly-formed Rajya Sabha MP Ajit Kumar Bhuyan will also be part of Opposition alliance.
tenure of present 126-member House ends on May 31 and Assembly elections are due in April-May this year.

"In upcoming Assam Assembly polls, Congress, AIUDF, CPI, CPI(M), CPI(ML), and AGM will fight toger to oust BJP. We will keep our doors open for or regional and anti-BJP parties to join us. Following anuncement, Congress in-charge of Assam, Jitendra Singh said parties have come toger to save 'culture and identity' of state from 'divisive politics' of BJP. He asserted that alliance would win in Assembly polls.

BJP national president JP Nda who visited state last week asserted that his party will return to power in Assam in upcoming elections, bagging over 100 of 126 Assembly seats, as Sarbananda Sowal-led government has worked for all-round development of state.
Nda, during his dress at 'Vijay Sankalp' rally, said that saffron party, since its victory in 2016 Assam Assembly polls, has gone on to win all elections in state -- be it Zilla Parish, panchayat, territorial or automous council.
