Slamming Centre for transferring Bhima-Koregaon case to National Investigation ncy (NIA), former Congress leader on Saturday, tweeted that Bhima-Koregaon is a symbol of resistance. Stating that NIA could t erase Bhima-Koregaon, Gandhi added that anyone against 'MOSH nda' (Modi-Shah nda) was termed 'urban naxal'. Congress, NCP and CPI(M) have slammed Centre undermining state by transferring case from Pune police to NIA, without state government's consultation.

Centre takes over Bhima-Koregaon case
A day after Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh and Deputy CM Ajit Pawar held a review meeting with Pune police on Bhima-Koregaon case, NIA took over probe. Deshmukh has condemned move saying that transfer happened without state government's consent. state government was mulling to constitute an SIT to review evidence and probe into case. Sources reported that Pune police officials were unhappy with new govt raising questions on ir probe. BJP has hailed move slamming Aghadi govt for demoralising police, while Shiv Sena is yet to comment on it.

Draft Charges against Elgar Parishad accused
Earlier on December 21, NCP chief Sharad Pawar demanded a Special Investigation Team (SIT) probe into police action against activists in Elgar Parishad case. Draft charges have been framed against nineteen accused including nine activists - Sudhir Dhawale, Rona Wilson, Surendra Gadling, Mahesh Raut, Shoma Sen, Arun Ferriera, Vern Gonsalves, Sudha Bharadwaj and Varavara Rao by police. draft charges include 'conspiracy to assassinate PM Narendra Modi', 'overthrow government', 'waging war against Government of India' under Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).

It furr state that some of arrested are active members of banned CPI (Maoists) party. If convicted under 'waging war against India' faces death sentence or imprisonment for life, as per IPC section 121. police believe that speech at Elgar Parishad meeting on December 31, 2017 incited violence on January 1, 2018, which had resulted in death of one person and several ors had been injured. Currently, all accused are in jail after ir bail pleas were rejected.
