Bihar sees behavioural change post MV Act, helmet users increased
Bihar has seen a significant impact of the new MV Act as 98% now wear helmets in Patna and 75% in districts, says the State transport department, as per reports

Motor Vehicle (Amendment) Act is seen making a significant impact in Bihar. According to reports, State transport department on Friday has claimed that people wearing helmets while riding two-wheelers have comparatively increased after enforcement of newly amended Act. In Patna, percent of two-wheelers riders wearing helmets has increased from 80% to 98%. Whereas, in or districts, it has increased from 35% to 75%, as rep.

Reportedly, Transport Secretary of Patna said, "re has been a sharp rise in a number of people wearing helmets in Patna and elsewhere in state. As many as 98% of people in Patna wears helmets w. During morning hours, number of people wearing helmets is about 90% while in day time it is 95%. Similarly, percent of people wearing helmets in or districts has also increased to 75%." He also ded, "Due to increase in penalty from Rs 100 to Rs 1,000 on motorists t wearing helmets according to new Motor Vehicle Act, people have started wearing helmets in order to avoid hefty fines."

On September 3, a truck driver named Ashok Jav was fined Rs 86,500 for several traffic rule violations in Odisha. According to Sambalpur's Regional Transport Officer Lalit Mohan Behera, Jav was penalised for allowing an unauthorised person to drive (Rs 5,000), driving without a license (Rs 5,000), overloing with an excess of 18 tonnes (Rs 56,000), carrying over dimension projections (Rs 20,000) and general offense (Rs 500) After negotiating with authorities for more than 5 hours, driver paid a fine of Rs 70,000.
