Birbhum violence: CPI(M) slams Mamata on 'conspiracy' claim; 'undertake serious probe'

Hitting out at West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee for alleging a conspiracy in the Birbhum violence, CPI(M) urged her to conduct a serious probe into the incident.

Hitting out at West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee for alleging a "conspiracy" in Birbhum violence, CPI(M) urged her to conduct a serious investigation into incident. Speaking to media on Sunday, WB CPI(M) secretary Mohamm Salim accused her of being a "conspirator" in several incidents even when she was an opposition leer in state. For instance, he alleged that Banerjee h tried to dislodge erstwhile Buddheb Bhattacharjee-led CPI(M) government in connivance with RSS and international agencies. 

CPI(M) leer Mohamm Salim remarked, "Since she (Mamata Banerjee) was appointed opposition leer, she was involved in se kinds of conspiracies toger with central agencies, some international agencies, fundamental groups, Maoist groups. You have heard of Kishenji. You have heard of Jnaneshwari incident."

"She is one of conspirators. When she says about this, I take it seriously. She is Chief Minister, not opposition leer. Is it case to announce from rooftop going to Darjeeling Hill and announce that re is a conspiracy? As police Minister, whole system is under her control. She must undertake some serious investigation and inquiry to find out whatever conspiracy she is talking about," former parliamentarian ded. 

Birbhum violence

In a ghastly incident on night of March 21, 6 women and 2 children were charred to death after miscreants set several houses on fire in Bogtai village on outskirts of Rampurhat in Birbhum district of West Bengal. This came a few hours after TMC panchayat leer Bhu Sheikh was killed in a bomb attack. state government set up a three-member SIT heed by G (CID) Gyanwant Singh to probe matter. This also led to a fresh war of words between Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar and CM with former observing that state is in grip of "violence culture and lawlessness".

Subsequently, post-mortem report revealed that victims of Birbhum violence including women and children were bly beaten up before being burnt alive. On March 25, Calcutta High Court directed CBI to probe this case and asked SIT to stop its investigation. So far, over 22 persons including local TMC leer Anarul Hossain have been arrested in connection with this matter.

dressing a garing a day leer, Mamata Banerjee said, "I still think re is a conspiracy behind Rampurhat incident. CBI took over charge, It is a good decision, but if y will only follow BJPs directions, we are rey to protest". WB CM ded, "A Trinamool worker was killed by anor party worker. But only TMC is being criticised everywhere. We have taken several steps to investigate matter and know original cause of Rampurhat incident".
