BJP trumps Congress-NCP in Sangli district council polls as 3Sena members vote for ex-ally
BJP has managed to snub the NCP-Cong alliance in Sangli district council polls after Shiv Sena members have supported the former ally.

Days after Shiv Sena and BJP broke ties in Maharashtra after Sena joined hands with NCP-Congress to form a Maha Vikas Aghi government in Maharashtra, it has helped BJP to win Zilla Parish polls. incident pertains to Sangli district where three Sena members voted for BJP making m winner against Congress and NCP. When asked for ir reason to support saffron party, y said that Sena and BJP h fought state polls toger.
In Zilla Parish polls in Sangli held on January 2, BJP won 35 votes whereas Cong-NCP alliance won 22, making former a clear winner. BJP's Prajakta Kore became chairman and Shivaji Dongre vice-chairman. Sources informed that Sena MLA Anil Babar said that re is harm in supporting old ally. This comes even as Sena and BJP has been targeting each or since day y parted ways. Babbar said:

Earlier, what served as a first shock to Maha Vikas Aghi, BJP trumped Shiv Sena-Congress alliance, by supporting Konark Vikas Aghi mayor candidate Pratibha Patil in Bhiwandi Mayor polls. Sources say that while Congress (47 seats) and Shiv Sena (12 seats) h numbers to trump BJP (19 seats) in city, 18 Congress corporators refused to support Sena-Congress alliance and voted for BJP's choice inste. Due to sudden shift in allegiance, Congress' pick Rishika Raka mand to get 41 votes compared to Pratibha Patil who mand to get 49 votes in 90 seat Bhiwandi Municipal Corporation.

Sena retains BMC
While Shiv Sena lost Bhiwandi Mayor polls, it won both Mayor and Deputy Mayor polls in Mumbai Mayor polls, retaining India's richest civic body -Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation. Shiv Sena's Kishori Pednekar and Suhas Wkar won Mayor and Deputy Mayor post on vember 22, after BJP's Ashish Shelar bowed out of race. In 2017, former allies BJP-Sena h bitterly fought civic elections separately but later BJP h supported Sena minee for Mayor's post in 227- seat Corporation.

Mahayuti fallout
Almost a month after elections, president's rule was imposed after party could prove a majority. BJP-Sena which fell out squabbling over a 50-50 power-sharing and shared CM post bagged 161 seats (BJP- 105, Shiv Sena-56). Meanwhile, Maha Aghi won 98 seats (NCP -54, Congress) and chose to ally with Shiv Sena, forming Maha Vikas Aghi. This was preceded by 4-day CM stint by Fnavis, which fell after Ajit Pawar rescinded his support after Supreme Court ordered an open ballot floor test in Maharashtra Assembly immediately. However, both Pawar and Fnais resigned and Uddhav Thackeray was sworn in as chief minister of Maharashtra on vember 28 along with six ministers — two each from alliance partners Shiv Sena, NCP, and Congress.
