Citing MVA's failure on COVID-19 front, Narayan Rane seeks President's Rule in Maharashtra

BJP MP Narayan Rane met Maharashtra Governor and demanded the President's Rule in the state citing the inability of the MVA to tackle the COVID-19 crisis.

On Monday, May 25, former CM and BJP MP Narayan Rane met Maharashtra Goverr Bhagat Singh Koshyari and demanded imposition of President's Rule in state. He contended that Uddhav Thackeray-led MVA government h failed to tackle COVID-19 crisis. According to Rane, Maharashtra CM h been unable to man affairs of state and police.

Maintaining that situation in government hospitals was dismal, Rane opined that scenario can improve only if Indian Army takes charge of se hospitals. reafter, he ded that Centre and t state government h provided relief to people. BJP MP claimed that re was chaos in state currently. Rane who served as Maharashtra CM in 1999 h a bitter parting of ways with Shiv Sena in 2005.

COVID-19 crisis in Maharashtra

re are 50,231 vel coronavirus cases in Maharashtra out of which 14,600 patients have been discharged while 1,635 casualties have been reported. dressing people of state on May 24, Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray stated that re were only 33,786 active cases in state as opposed to Centre's projection of 1.25-1.5 lakh cases by May-end. Countering criticism of t declaring an ecomic pack, he retorted that MVA government does t believe in giving empty promises. Subsequently, he listed various initiatives taken by ministration as far as food security, healthcare and welfare of migrant workers is concerned. He also promised that lockdown restrictions would be grually lifted to ensure safety of citizens.

Maharashtra government issues guidelines for passengers

Earlier in day, Maharashtra government issued guidelines for domestic air travellers. It clarified that Health Ministry's guidelines dated May 24 would be applicable for all inbound and outbound travel. Only asymptomatic passengers should be allowed to board aircraft at point of departure. A dedicated 24/7 helpline desk having all details pertaining to flights will be set up.

Moreover, all passengers arriving in state shall be stamped on ir left hand for identification and will have to compulsorily undergo home isolation for 14 days. However, those found symptomatic on arrival would be taken to nearest health facility as per Health Ministry protocol. Travel of passengers will t be allowed from containment zones to airport and vice versa.
