As Congress leader DK Shivakumar was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED), Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa said that he is 'not happy' with the arrest. Shivakumar was arrested on Tuesday evening related to a money laundering case.
"I pray to God that he should come out from every thing. I have neither hated any one in my life, nor have I wished bad for any one. Law will take its course. If he comes out (of the charges), I will be more happy than anyone. I haven't hated anyone in my life and haven't mean to harm anyone. Justice will have to take its own course," the BJP Karantaka Chief Minister said. Yediyuruppa's remark is a twist in the Karnataka politics where BJP leaders are reportedly annoyed with the Central leadership. Yediyuruppa took oath as CM in July this year, after HD Kumaraswamy's alliance government lost majority.
DK Shivakumar arrested, Congress cries 'vendetta'
The Enforcement Directorate on Tuesday has arrested senior Congress leader DK Shivakumar in connection with an alleged money laundering case. Siddaramaiah backed DK Shivakamar and slammed the government over the arrest. Taking to Twitter, he said: "Opposition leaders are being targeted each & every day using central govt agencies. It is just an attempt to divert the attention from structural failures of BJP govt & also to prevent the voices of dissent. DK Shivakumar is also a victim of their vindictive politics."
The Tamil Nadu Congress committee has condemned Shivakumar's arrest and called it a political vendetta against the Congress Party. Taking to Twitter, TN Congress said that the arrest is a clear case of 'political vendetta'. It accused the BJP of targetting sane and strong voices of the Congress party. According to the TN Congress, they targetted Chidambaram; and now, the latest victim of their agenda is Shivakumar.
