CBI summons West Bengal principal secretary again in recruitment scam probe

Manish Jain's name emerged during the interrogation of former state minister Partha Chatterjee, who has been arrested. The CBI has ample evidence suggesting that Jain was aware of the recruitment process irregularities.

CBI has summoned principal secretary of West Bengal school education department to appear before it in connection with ongoing probe into irregularities in recruitment in state government jobs, an official of probe body said on Wednesday.

Manish Jain has been asked to appear before central probe agency's officers at its city office on Thursday morning, he said.

Jain's name surfaced during interrogation of arrested former state minister Partha Chatterjee.

When bureaucrat appears before CBI on Thursday it will be his second appearance before probe agency in same case.

“Manish Jain has been asked to come to our office for questioning tomorrow for ongoing investigation of recruitment scam. Our officers are rey with a few sets of questions,” CBI official said.

re is ample evidence that Jain was aware that re were some irregularities in recruitment process, he said.

“Mr Jain will be questioned specifically about his involvement. re are several files where his signatures have been found, proving that he h knowledge about irregularities in recruitment process,” official said.

Jain was summoned and questioned for more than five hours during his last appearance at CBI office last year.
