Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot to hold CLP meeting after Governor okays assembly session in Aug

Amid  ongoing political uproar in Rajasthan, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot is all set to chair  Congress Legislative Party (CLP) meeting on Thursday July 30, at Hotel Fairmont in Jaipur. This comes a day after deadlock over convening assembly session ended with Goverr Kalraj Mishra agreeing to call a session from August 14. Various strategies to deal with ongoing political crisis will be discussed in Legislature Party meeting. Congress state president Govind Singh Dotasara, in-charge Avinash Pande, and spokesperson Randeep Surjewala will also be present at  meeting.

Raj Bhawan's anuncement to summon state assembly came after Gehlot-led Cabinet sent a fourth proposal to Goverr mentioning August 14 as new date. government said new date met 21-day tice requirement in which Goverr had insisted earlier counting days from July 23 when first proposal for session was sent to Raj Bhawan. Gehlot camp had earlier requested to begin session on July 31.

Goverr, in his order furr instructed that all measures should be taken during assembly session, as per guidelines issued to prevent spread of COVID-19.  order for convening Assembly was issued after repeated requests by CM Gehlot whose government is facing a crisis due to differences in ruling Congress.

political crisis in Rajasthan began on July 11 when Sachin Pilot along with his supporting legislators went to Delhi to meet party high-command.  rift between CM Ashok Gehlot and Pilot widened after legislators belonging to latter's camp skipped two Legislative Party meetings. Pilot was n removed as Deputy Chief Minister and state unit chief of Congress. state government has accused BJP of indulging in horse-trading to bring down Gehlot-led government.
