Cong, NC should explain if they endorse Gupkar resolution to restore Article 370: Jitendra Singh

Union minister Jitendra Singh asked the Congress and the National Conference (NC) on Monday to explain to the people of the Jammu region whether they endorsed the Gupkar resolution to restore Article 370 of the Constitution in Jammu and Kashmir.

Union minister Jitendra Singh asked Congress and National Conference (NC) on Monday to explain to people of Jammu region wher y endorsed Gupkar resolution to restore Article 370 of Constitution in Jammu and Kashmir.

He said People's Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD) will spell doom for Congress t only in Jammu and Kashmir, but across country.

PAGD is an amalgam of various political parties of Jammu and Kashmir, including NC. It has sought restoration of Article 370, which gave a special status to erstwhile state.

Singh, Minister of State for Personnel, accused se political parties of t only a physical discrimination against Jammu region, but also leing a psychological warfare, resulting in mental enslavement of people of area.

He said for first time, people in every region of Jammu and Kashmir have begun to experience feeling of being equal citizens and t being subservient to any or region.

" Congress party and National Conference should explain to people of Jammu region wher y endorsed Gupkar resolution to restore Article 370," minister told PTI.

He said both NC and Congress are today crying hoarse for hour of Dogras, whereas se two parties are precisely responsible for having perpetually compromised Dogra pride.

He accused two parties of t only unleashing oppression against Dogras, but also putting behind bars "tallest Dogra of our times, Pandit Prem Nath Dogra".

Singh said Congress and NC are trying to sell name of Maharaja Hari Singh to new generation of Jammuites who, y think, may t be fully abreast with history.

"But it is on record that Congress led by Jawaharlal Nehru and National Conference led by Sheikh Abdullah were responsible for humiliating ouster and banishment of Maharaja Hari Singh," he said.

" politically expedient opposition leers have conveniently come to conclusion that Dogras of Jammu do t re ir own history and can, refore, be easily manipulated by opportunistic rhetoric," Singh, Lok Sabha member from Jammu and Kashmir's Udhampur constituency, said.
