Congress dismisses Sharad Pawar's critique of Rahul Gandhi; 'fell short of understanding'

Senior Congress leer and Maharashtra Minister Balasaheb Thorat on Monday said that NCP chief Shar Pawar seems to have fallen short of understanding Rahul Gandhi. sharp response from Congress comes days after NCP supremo observed that former Congress president apparently lacked consistency.

'He has fallen short in understanding Rahul Ji'

Speaking to reporters in Mumbai, Thorat, who hes state Congress unit, also praised Rahul Gandhi for "emerging out of a personal crisis and leing party". Thorat said Rahul Gandhi has acceptability in Congress and party is getting organised under his leership.

He alleged that "some machineries of BJP have been targeting Rahul Gandhi. But, Rahulji will le us successfully...We accept seniority of hourable Pawar Saheb. But he has fallen short in understanding Rahul Ji it seems." 

Pawar's comments seem to have t gone down well with Congress, which is a constituent in Shiv Sena-led Maha Vikas Aghi (MVA) government along with NCP. On Saturday, state minister and Congress leer Yashomati Thakur said constituents of MVA dispensation should stop commenting on Congress leership if y want a "stable" government in state.

When asked about Thakur's comments, Thorat said, "She said what Congressmen felt about Pawar saheb's remarks".  In an interview to a Marathi daily, Pawar h reportedly said Rahul Gandhi appeared to lack consistency.

NCP Supremo was being interviewed by Lokmat Media chairman and former MP Vijay Darda. When asked if country was rey to accept Rahul Gandhi as a leer, Pawar said, "re are some questions in this regard. re seems to be less consistency."

Obama, in his recently published memoir, said that Congress leer appeared to be like a student er to impress teacher but lacking aptitude and passion to master subject. Asked about this, Pawar said it was t necessary that we should accept everybody's view. "I can say anything about leership in our country. But I will t talk about leership in ar country. One should maintain that limit...I think Obama crossed that limit," he said.

Asked about Congress's future and if Rahul Gandhi was becoming a "hurdle" for party, Pawar said leership of any party depends on what kind of acceptance he or she has within organisation. "Though I h differences with (Congress chief) Sonia Gandhi and family, even today Congressmen have a sense of affection for Gandhi-Nehru family," NCP chief, who quit Congress over leership issue two deces ago, said.
