It appears that Congress leader Jairam Ramesh's remarks lauding PM Modi's developmental work has now got the backing of an ever-expanding array of netas from the party, with Thiruvananthapuram MP Shashi Tharoor joining the league in praising the Prime Minister. Responding to a tweet on the matter, Tharoor said that he has argued for six years that PM Modi should be praised whenever he says or does the right thing, adding that it would add credibility to the criticism whenever the Prime Minister would err. Shashi Tharoor went on to welcome other Opposition and Congress leaders to share their views on a matter for which he was "excoriated" at the time.

Jairam Ramesh praises PM Modi

This statement from Shashi Tharoor has come in the light of the remarks made by Congress MP heaping praises at PM Modi, saying that it is time the Opposition recognises the work done by the Prime Minister. Speaking at an event, Jairam Ramesh had warned the Opposition leaders. He had said that PM Modi's governance model is not a "complete negative story". Jairam Ramesh had added that not recognising Modi's work and demonising him all the time is not going to help.

"He (PM Modi) talks in a language that connects him with the people. Unless we recognize that he is doing things which people recognise and which have not been done in the past, we are not going to be able to confront this guy. In 2019, all of us in the political discourse made fun of one or two of his programmes. But it has turned out in all electoral studies that the PMUJ is one single program which has been able to connect him with crores and crores of women and given him the political traction which he didn't have in 2014," said the Congress leader.
