Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad's nephew Mubashir Azad joins BJP in Jammu and Kashmir
Mubashir Azad, an active Congress leader, is the nephew of former J&K Chief Minister and Congress veteran Ghulam Nabi Azad.

In ar setback to Congress in Jammu and Kashmir, party's youth leer Mubashir Az joined BJP on Sunday, February 27. Mubashir, an active Congress leer, is nephew of former J&K Chief Minister and Congress veteran Ghulam Nabi Az. He was formally inducted into BJP today at party hequarters in Jammu.
Welcoming young leer, J&K BJP president Ravinder Raina said his entry will boost party cre in Union Territory. Mubashir Az is son of Liaqat Ali Bhat, youngest bror of Ghulam Nabi Az. switching of allegiance comes amid reports that elections could take place in erstwhile state of J&K later this year.

Former JKNC MLAs join BJP
Opposition parties have suffered major blows in recent months with several legislators deflecting Bharatiya Janata Party. In October 2021, former Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (NC) leers Devendra Singh Rana and Surjit Singh Salathia were among 12 legislators who joined BJP after quitting NC.
Speaking to media at te BJP hequarters, Rana said, “Jammu also has right to have a political narrative for Jammu and Kashmir. re are some people who want to weaken ethos of Jammu and Kashmir”. He said BJP would take people of Jammu and Kashmir forward in national interest.
Rana, younger bror of Union Minister Jitendra Singh and provincial president of National Conference, along with senior party colleague and former minister Slathia, h quit NC on October 10 and joined BJP in Delhi next day. A majority of those who joined BJP, including former legislators Prem Sagar Aziz and Kamal Arora, are considered close to Rana.

Aziz, former deputy mayor Dharamvir Singh Jamwal, provincial secretary Choudhary Arshid, Samba district president Mohinder Gupta, corporator Ashok Manhas and senior workers Som Nath Khajura and Succha Singh h recently resigned from NC in Rana’s support.
In vember last year, J&K BJP chief Ravinder Raina claimed that re will be an elected Chief Minister from saffron party soon. Raina also informed that Assembly Elections in Union Territory will be held soon once delimitation process is over.
