A day after the Congress went all out to lend its support to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in the Parliament over the Delhi Services Bill, it came up with serious allegations of corruption against the AAP-led Delhi government. The Delhi wing of the party on Tuesday, August 8 made serious charges of corruption against the Delhi government in hiking the circle rates of agricultural land in the national capital. The Congress party alleged that the step was anti-poor and the hike in the rates will only benefit the builder lobby at the expense of poor farmers.
Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC) President Anil Kumar Chaudhary on Tuesday said that there was a strong odour of corruption in the hike in the circle rates of agricultural land by the Delhi Government. This appears to be done in order to benefit the builder lobby as the powerful land-owners will derive benefits from the rate hike. The DPCC has also demanded that the circle rate should be done equal for all.

Delhi Congress to bring allegation of corruption in hike in circle rate of agricultural land to L-G's notice
Chaudhary said, “While Rs 5 crore will be the rate per acre in the Central District, Rs 2.25 crore will be the rate per acre in the East District, which is very unequal. When Congress revised the circle rate in 2008, the per acre rate was Rs 53 lakh for farm lands and Rs 17 lakh per acre for river plains.” He added that this was for the first time that such a vast difference in the circle rate of farm lands has been done.
The Delhi Congress has decided to strongly protest against this alleged arbitrary circle rate hike of agricultural land and also planned to take up the issue with the Lieutenant Governor.
Not only this, the Delhi Congress president also slammed the BJP-led government at the Centre for the passage of the Delhi Services Bill and said that the central government has snatched the powers of the elected Government in Delhi, to run it by backseat driving through the L-G and the bureaucrats.
