CPI(M) opposes NEET/JEE exam schedule, says 'outrageous' to hold them at this time

The CPI(M) on Thursday issued an official statement over the NEET and JEE exam row in the country asking the Centre to hold the exams in abeyance

Communist Party of India (CPI-M) on Thursday issued an official statement over NEET and JEE exam row in country asking Centre to hold exams in abeyance given Coronavirus situation in country. " Polit Bureau of CPI(M) is firmly opposing move to unilaterally push conduct of JEE-NEET examinations for mission to professional courses across country," said CPI(M) in ir official statement.

CPI(M) also remarked that it was 'outrous' to hold se examinations in physical mode given surge in infections calling out Government for being 'insensitive.' "What is most outrous is insensitivity to hold se examinations in physical mode across country at a time when pandemic is surging both in number of infections, as well as, mounting counts of deaths," it said.

" concern about starting acemic session in se institutions for sake of future of students and those courses is valid and understandable.  However, present situation is grossly premature for undertaking such a venture.  It completely undermines health concern for almost a million of some of brightest of our youth," re official statement.

Education Minister speaks on JEE & NEET

Union Education Minister on Wednesday stated that exam dates h been finalised after two deferments keeping in mind order of Supreme Court and current situation of pandemic. Education Minister revealed that about 85% of students appearing for exams h alrey downloed ir mit cards and were rey to sit for ir tests after much preparation.

While Centre is facing criticism from Opposition for conducting JEE Mains and NEET in view of rising COVID-19 cases, over 100 acemicians from various universities in India and abro have written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying that delaying medical and engineering entrance exams any furr will mean compromising future of students.

While JEE Main examination will be held between September 1 to 6, NEET examination is scheduled for September 13. NTA assured all students of a safe environment in wake of COVID-19 crisis.
