'Create financial net for poor, use NYAY scheme; don't call it that': Rahul's Covid advice

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Thursday addressing a video conference spoke about government's preparation in tackling COVID-19 and ecomic problems country will face after lockdown is lifted. former Congress president suggested that Centre should use NYAY scheme and create a minimum financial net for poor people.  He also said that suspension of MPLADs is t a major concern in this situation. 

'Bottom-up and t top-bottom'

He said, "Our main force in fight against COVID-19 is at state and district level. success in Kerala and Wayanad is because district machinery re is working effectively. So I would like to suggest that fight against COVID should be 'bottom-up' and t 'top-bottom' Prime Minister should empower CMs and District officials. Our focus should be on fighting this toger and adequately using our forces."

Gandhi said that current situation is like "an emergency" and w focus should t be on past actions. He said, "Whatever is done is done. Let's fight this toger and I would suggest that blunt instruments should t be used. Release GST dues of states, communicate with m effectively. We must work effectively."

'Unemployment will be at its peak'

He added, " way in which money is transferred, speed in which it should have been done is t happening. I would like to talk about ecomic sphere. re will be a food short in future but still, government should keep distributing food. government should use NYAY scheme and transfer money into bank accounts of poor directly. Poor labourers will face problem. Don't use name NYAY but create a minimum financial net. Unemployment will be at its peak. Create a defence net for Micro, Medium and Small Enterprises and protect m."

He suggested government to increase testing and use it strategically. He claimed that re will be a massive financial backlash after lockdown ends and first wave of 'unemployment' will begin. He also said that he would appreciate 'more detailed conversation' between Prime Minister's office and state governments. Wayanad MP added that Covid can t be 'controlled it has to be mand'.
