Cyclone Amphan: Owaisi slams Centre over 'insufficient' relief aid for West Bengal, Odisha
AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi on Sunday criticized the Central government over the relief packages announced by PM Modi for WB and Odisha due to Cyclone Amphan.

AIMIM chief Asuddin Owaisi on Sunday criticized Central government over relief packs anunced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for West Bengal and Odisha in wake of Cyclone Amphan. Calling relief pack 'insufficient', Owaisi said that Centre must work for complete relief and rehabilitation for those affected by severe cyclone.
He said, "It is unfortunate that this cyclone has claimed and affected many lives and caused dam to a large number of houses. Prime Minister has visited states and anunced Rs 1,000 crore and Rs 500 crore relief fund for West Bengal and Odisha respectively. This relief amount will t be sufficient. Government of India must work for complete relief and rehabilitation of affected."

Expressing solidarity with cyclone-affected states, he furr ded, " devastation caused by Cyclone Amphan in Odisha and West Bengal is unimaginable. I and my party members are here for people of se states as y began ir difficult journey towards recovery. We pray for ir relief."
Centre's financial assistance to WB, Odisha
After taking stock of situation in West Bengal and Odisha on Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi anunced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh for kin of deceased persons. He also said that Central government will allocate Rs 1,000 crore for an vance immediate assistance of West Bengal. He also anunced Rs 50,000 each to injured persons. PM also conducted an aerial survey of cyclone-affected areas in both states and ir chief ministers-- Naveen Patnaik and Mamata Banerjee respectively, and ded Rs 500 crore relief for Odisha.

Cyclone Amphan
Cyclone Amphan which reported winds up to 190 kmph me landfall at Digha coast of West Bengal at 2:30 pm on Wednesday, hitting Kolkata a few hours later. re were widespre power cuts in large parts of Kolkata, rth 24 Paraganas, and South Paraganas. Mobile and internet services were also down in parts of state as cyclone damd several communication towers.

Streets and homes in low lying areas of Kolkata were swamped with rainwater. Portions of several dilapidated buildings came crashing down in Kolkata and or parts of state. Embankments in Sundarban delta - a UNESCO site - were also breached as surge whipped up by cyclone inundated several kilometers of island. At least 80 people have been killed in calamity, while thousands have been displaced.

On or hand, nearly 45 lakh people in Odisha have been affected by extremely severe cyclonic storm, which fiercely rolled past state's coast and me landfall on Wednesday, uprooting trees and flattening fragile dwellings. power infrastructure and farm sector have also suffered considerable dam, while telecommunication infrastructure is largely intact with minimal impact in state.
