Delhi: Anganwadi workers call Priyanka Gandhi Vadra's support 'false consolations'

Anganwadi workers who were terminated by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in Delhi questioned Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra's support for them.

Anganwi workers, who were terminated by Aam Ami Party (AAP) government in Delhi, questioned Congress leer Priyanka Gandhi Vra's support for m, claiming her gesture was hollow as Grand Old Party's own Abhishek Manu Singhvi was defending Delhi government in case against terminated Anganwi workers. 

Notably, on Monday, Priyanka Gandhi Vra backed 884 Angawai workers who Arvind Kejriwal-led government terminated in Delhi for staging a protest and going on strike. Reacting to Gandhi's support, Delhi State Anganwi Workers and Helpers Union (DSAWHU) said that Congress leer's support is nothing but "false consolations".

"Priyanka Gandhi is 'supporting' struggle of Delhi Anganwi workers while Congress' own Rajya Sabha MP and party spokesperson Abhishek Manu Singhvi is vocating on behalf of Delhi government against Anganwi workers," DSAWHU said in a statement on Monday. ding furr, union said that though Grand Old Party raised ir issues through press conferences in Punjab and Delhi, se were "nothing but false consolations".

Congress' "sympathy" for Anganwi workers, according to DSAWHU, is a "farce," and party is only bringing up matter for "electoral gain". Union furr took a jibe at Congress party and said, "If Congress is so sympatic to demand for a respectable honorarium n why is it not increasing honorariums of scheme workers to Rs 25,000 in states where it is ruling government?"

Priyanka Gandhi Vra slams Delhi govt's move to sack over 800 Anganwi workers

On Monday, Congress leer Priyanka Gandhi Vra called Delhi government's decision to terminate over 800 Anganwi employees for going on strike in favour of a higher honorarium "unjust" and urged that y be promptly restored. Notably, 884 Delhi Anganwi workers h ir lives completely flipped upside down when y were unceremoniously sacked after going on a month-long strike to demand a pay hike and decent working hours. It is pertinent to mention that on March 14th, se workers, many of whom were single mors, received a termination notice due to ir 39-day strike.

Gandhi slammed AAP government in Delhi over concern move and demanded ruling party reinstate sacked Anganwi workers immediately. " Delhi government h increased honorarium of MLAs a few days ago. But, taking an unjust step, government sacked more than 800 Anganwi workers demanding a respectable honorarium. Asking for a good honorarium for hard work is not a crime. se Anganwi 'Sevikas' (workers) should be reinstated immediately," Gandhi tweeted.
