Delhi Elections: BJP appoints Prakash Javedkar poll in-charge, names deputies and gets ready

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) named Minister of Information and Broadcasting Prakash Javedkar as the election in-charge for the country's capital Delhi alongside naming MoS Nityanand Rai and Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri as the deputy in charge for the polls.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) named Minister of Information and Broadcasting Prakash Javedkar as election in-charge for  country's capital Delhi alongside naming MoS Nityanand Rai and Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri as deputy in charge for polls. 

BJP released an official statement on 9 August, confirming appointment of three leaders by president of BJP Amit Shah. Furr, it also named national vice president of BJP Shyam Jaju as coordinator in-charge and National Secretary of BJP Tarun Chugh as deputy coordinator in-charge for upcoming polls.

Throwback to 2015 polls

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) led by current Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal made a remarkable turnaround after y won a whopping 67 seats out of 70 seats in Legislative Assembly polls in 2015. AAP gained 39 additional seats as compared to previous polls, which allowed m to form government with an absolute majority. BJP was reduced to merely three seats, losing 29 seats in polls while Indian National Congress (INC) was reduced to zero seats.

turnaround for Kejriwal-led AAP came after y lost miserably to BJP in 2014 general elections that saw BJP come into power with a massive mandate all around country. He forged an alliance with Congress and formed a mirity government in a hung Assembly. Late Delhi Congress chief Sheila Dixit had n given a 't unconditional support' to AAP as both parties succeded in keeping BJP away from power despite latter winning 31 seats in Legislative Assembly polls. 

2019 Lok Sabha Polls

Aam Aadmi Party was decimated in 2019 general elections as BJP mand to retain seven out of seven seats in National Capital Region (NCR), thus comprehensively retaining ir clutch over country's capital.
