Amid the impasse between the BJP and Shiv Sena with the deadline to form the government just around the corner, outgoing Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadanvis met RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat. As per reports, the duo had an hour-long closed-door meeting at the RSS headquarters in Nagpur. The political slugfest between the BJP and Shiv Sena continues as the latter refuses to moderate its stance on its demands for equal sharing of Cabinet portfolios and the chief minster's tenure for 2.5 years.
However, Fadnavis asserted that Shiv Sena was not promised the chief ministerial post for two-and-a-half years when the alliance was formed before the 2019 Lok Sabha polls.
With BJP's door 'always open' for Shiv Sena, Maharashtra BJP president Chandrakant Patil on Tuesday said that Sena is yet to make any proposal. Congress and NCP leaders have also confirmed that the two parties are trying to chalk out an alternative to keep the BJP out of power in the state.

Sena has support of 170 MLAs: Sanjay Raut
Shiv Sena senior leader Sanjay Raut on Sunday claimed that the party has 170 MLAs supporting them and that the figure can even reach 175. Raut while speaking to reporters also said that Shiv Sena does not play 'double games' and the party will take what is 'rightfully theirs'. "This is not about pride or ego. They have a figure of 105. They should have staked their claim to form the government on October 24 itself," he further added. Earlier, Shiv Sena's mouthpiece Saamana had stated that the BJP could not prove the majority if it claims to form the government without taking it on board.
