EXCLUSIVE: 'Whatever responsibility I get, I will do it with all dedication', says Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi minutes before the announcement of the designated portfolios to ministers in Modi Cabinet 2.0

Prime Minister Narendra Modi got to work soon after he took the oath for the office of the Prime Minister of the country. On May 30, the Prime Minister took the oath along with 58 Cabinet Ministers including 24 new faces in the Modi cabinet 2.0. While others like Rajnath Singh, Prakash Javadekar, Nirmala Sitharaman, Nitin Gadkari, Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, and others were repeated.

Speaking to Republic Bharat a day after the swearing-in ceremony of the Prime Minister, Naqvi who was the Minority Affairs Minister in Modi's first term and is credited with major reforms in the Haj policy quoted a famous shayari to express his dedication. 

"Sitaron k aage jahan aur bhi hai, abhi imtehaan aur bhi hai." (There's world beyond the stars, the struggles are left). The journey of 2014-2019, PM Modi gave the performance without waiting, without getting tired and the aim was to uplift the poor and weaker sections of society. We were successful in doing this to a great extent," Naqvi said.

He added, "Now people have trusted the work of Narendra Modi, they have reposed their trust on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and therefore they gave massive majority mandate to our party. This will be the first time or one among the few times in the world democracies that people have appreciated the work of a government and given them an absolute majority. They have given a bigger victory, this is called pro-incumbency."

Emphasizing on the dedication of Prime Minister Modi and his government, he said,

"Now the responsibility is stronger, he campaigned for two months but as soon as he won he did not waste even a minute and got to work. You can now understand our commitment and our dedication too. We don't care what opposition says, that is not important when we will work you will see they will see too."

When asked about his earlier ministry - the minority affairs, Naqvi said: "Modi ji had only one wish that no one from the 130 crore population, no one at the lower rungs of the society is exempted from development. And everybody has connected to this development works of Modiji. Yes, there are people who have been left behind, we will make sure we reach them this time. Whatever responsibility I get, I will do it with all dedication, what will be the strategy we will let you know."
