"Extremely unfortunate...": Sunny Deol justifies appointing his PA to discharge Gurdaspur duties amid controversy. Read his statement

Amid controversy over hiring a 'representative' for his constituency, Gurdaspur MP and actor-turned-politician Sunny Deol has released a statement on Tuesday.

Taking to Twitter, newly-joined BJP leer has said that he "extremely unfortunate to see a controversy being created out of thing at all".

ding that he appointed his "PA (Personal Assistant) to represent his office in Gurdaspur, he stated that appointment has been me to ensure smooth flow of work whenever he is "out of Gurdaspur to attend Parliament or travelling for work". 

Lastly, he said that he is an elected MP and is genuinely committed to cause of Gurdaspur.

Earlier on Tuesday, Sunny Deol appointed Gurpreet Singh Palheri from Punjab's Mohali district as his proxy to 'attend meetings and follow important matters' on his behalf in constituency.

n-political representative from Mohali, Gurpreet Singh Palheri is a film writer and producer by profession. 

In an attempt to downplay matter, Gurpreet Singh Palheri said that his appointment has been me for  local issues.

"It is like being in 24-hour service of people of Gurdaspur," he said.

Slamming Sunny Deol over development, RPI(A) chief Ramdas Athavale said that Gurdaspur MP 'does t kw much' because he is from film industry and that it is necessary for him to visit his constituency as he has been elected by people re. 

"I feel Sunny Deol is new and works in films, but this is t right. Every MP, representative works re (at ir constituency). I believe Sunny Deol's representative will handle his work, but that he would t go re at all is t right," Athavle said.

Meanwhile, move came under fire by ruling Congress party in state after Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh  move as a "betrayal" of a voter's mandate.
