Amid controversy over hiring a 'representative' for his constituency, Gurdaspur MP and actor-turned-politician Sunny Deol has released a statement on Tuesday.
Taking to Twitter, the newly-joined BJP leader has said that he "extremely unfortunate to see a controversy being created out of nothing at all".
Adding that he appointed his "PA (Personal Assistant) to represent his office in Gurdaspur, he stated that the appointment has been made to ensure smooth flow of work whenever he is "out of Gurdaspur to attend the Parliament or travelling for work".
Lastly, he said that he is an elected MP and is genuinely committed to cause of Gurdaspur.

Earlier on Tuesday, Sunny Deol appointed Gurpreet Singh Palheri from Punjab's Mohali district as his proxy to 'attend meetings and follow important matters' on his behalf in the constituency.
The non-political representative from Mohali, Gurpreet Singh Palheri is a film writer and producer by profession.
In an attempt to downplay the matter, Gurpreet Singh Palheri said that his appointment has been made for the local issues.
"It is like being in 24-hour service of people of Gurdaspur," he said.
Slamming Sunny Deol over the development, RPI(A) chief Ramdas Athavale said that the Gurdaspur MP 'does not know much' because he is from the film industry and that it is necessary for him to visit his constituency as he has been elected by the people there.
"I feel Sunny Deol is new and works in films, but this is not right. Every MP, representative works there (at their constituency). I believe Sunny Deol's representative will handle his work, but that he would not go there at all is not right," Athavle said.
Meanwhile, the move came under fire by the ruling Congress party in the state after Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh the move as a "betrayal" of a voter's mandate.
