Hailing Maharashtra goverr's decision to demand immediate elections rar than minating CM Uddhav Thackeray to state council, former CM Devendra Fnavis, on Thursday, said that he hoped election commission will hold elections for 9 vacant seats at earliest. Goverr asks EC to hold snap elections
Maharashtra Goverr Bhagat Singh Koshyari, on Thursday, has requested Election Commission of India to declare elections to 9 vacant seats of Maharashtra Legislative Council ‘at earliest’. Moreover, he pointed out that Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray who is t a member of eir house of State Legislature needs to get elected to Council before 27th May 2020. This development comes a day after Thackeray spoke to PM Modi over delay in his mination to state council.

Maharashtra cabinet reminds goverr
On April 27, state cabinet sent a reminder to Goverr Koshyari on minating Thackeray to Maharashtra legislative council as goverr's pick. Koshyari is yet to accept mination, as two seats from goverr's quota are currently unfilled - after 2 NCP councillors resigned to join BJP. After cabinet's reminder, two PILs have been filed with Bombay High Court, urging for holding immediate elections to get Thackeray elected to Council.

Earlier on April 9, Maharashtra cabinet picked Thackeray to be goverr's minee to Maharashtra state council. Koshyari h earlier rejected NCP's two minees stating that election for two seats will be held in June and re was emergency prior to that. But with postponement of MLC polls due to Coronavirus (COVID-19) spre in state, Thackeray is yet to be elected to eir legislative body. If he is t elected to Council by six months of taking oath as CM- which will end on May 28, Thackeray will have to resign as CM.
