'Not the time for language of provocation and revenge': Deve Gowda on Indo-China conflict

Amid outr over China after martyrdom of 20 brave Indian soldiers in Galwan valley and nationwide call for boycott of Chinese goods, Former Prime Minister Deve Gowda has called nationalistic sentiment "rhetoric", and asked it "to be toned down", ding that it is "t time for langu of provocation and revenge". Ahe of all-party meeting in light of India-China violent faceoff, Deve Gowda took to Twitter to release a statement consisting of a list of recommendations to Central government though letter was t directly dressed to government.
Nationalistic rhetoric should be toned down
"In order to ensure we do t escalate matters, I sincerely urge that nationalistic rhetoric should be toned down. This is t time for langu of provocation and revenge," Gowda said on Friday.

He urged that a senior serving military officer and a senior serving diplomat should make a detailed presentation to opposition leers about prevailing situation on ground.

Targeting media, he said that information available to opposition is through media, "and it cant be always trusted as accurate". He also said that media outlets are spreing fake information and cheap rhetoric endangering lives of soldiers and diplomatic staff.

He also said that re have been efforts in recent times to politicise armed forces, seemingly hinting towards Centre over its statements of giving a free hand to armed forces to protect sovereignty of country given government's decision to allow surgical strike and airstrike in Pakistan gaining widespre recognition among masses. "That is dangerous," he said.
Surprisingly, he also vised his colleagues and broly or opposition leers "t to use intemperate langu", saying that this was an hour for co-operation. Stating that re is a feeling among citizens that nation is engulfed by hostile countries, he urged political leership to ensure that such anxiety is quelled with proper information.
