In letter to PM, CM Gehlot flays BJP's 'attempt' to topple govt & insult people's mandate

On Wednesday, Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot brought to PM Modi's attention attempt to topple democratically elected government in state. In a letter dressed to PM, he claimed that Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, or BJP leers, and some over-ambitious Congress leers were involved in this conspiracy. He pointed out that many state governments were being destabilised violating spirit of anti-defection law passed by Rajiv Gandhi-led government, which was later me more stringent during Atal Bihar Vajpayee's tenure as PM.
While ackwledging that PM Modi might t be aware of or is being misled about plot to oust Rajasthan government, Gehlot warned that history will never forgive anyone who is a party to such an act. reafter, he exuded confidence that truth, democratic tritions, and constitutional principles will win. He stressed that Congress government would complete its full term, rendering good governance to people.

Gehlot recalls a previous attempt to topple government
Gehlot lamented that such a conspiracy was unraveling at a juncture when priority was to save lives in fight against COVID-19 crisis. He also reminded PM that such allegations were also leveled at BJP when Kamal Nath-led Congress government was toppled in Mhya Presh in March at vent of vel coronavirus crisis. He contended that such a conspiracy was akin to cheating people.

After a two-judge bench of Rajasthan HC reserved order on plea of Sachin Pilot and 18 or MLAs challenging Assembly Speaker's disqualification tice till July 24, latter approached SC. Following this, Pilot camp filed a caveat petition in apex court. y urged court that order should be passed without hearing ir side.
