Protests have erupted over Goa MLA Atanasio Monserrate's as-yet-unfulfilled promise to remove casi vessels within 100 days of coming to office. MLA Monserrate earlier worked for Congress, before changing sides and integrating into BJP.
To Float Or t To Float?
Valmiki Naik, who led protest against casi ships, allegedly accused Monserrate of never fulfilling his promise and demanded removal of casis altoger. As per a news publication, Valmiki Naik stated that Monserrate's promise was all for naught.

“Babush Monserrate’s promise for 100 days was a joke. Even if he were to fulfill it, it would t make a difference. When you want to clean house, you do t take garb from one room to next. We want m out of Goa, t shifted from river,” Naik said.

MLA Defends
However, Goa BJP MLA Atanasio Monserrate defended his actions, stating that any promises me will t be broken.
“As far as casis are concerned, I am out to remove m from Panjim. I stand by my promises. My promises are meant to be kept, t to be broken,” Monserrate said, as per reports, when reminded about his promise.

Goa Chief Minister's Promise
Congress, as well as BJP, h protested and promised removal of such vessels, however, both failed to fulfill ir promise when in power. A few months earlier, new Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant h promised to ban all of India's people from entering casis. Recently in June, Chief Minister h claimed that casis are important of tourism and hence, cant be written off.

dressing a press conference, he said he would ban all of country's people from access to casis. CM was questioned over denying access to 'every Indian citizen', to which he replied that BJP believes in 'Akhand Bharat' rule, a 'one Nation, one Law' and only banning Goans won't be healthy for well being of his fellow countrymen. In August last year, n Chief Minister of Goa Mahar Parrikar h promised that only tourists will be allowed in casis from January this year.
