Gujarat CM asserts 'Bandh won't be successful in state'; blames Cong for inciting farmers

Addressing a press conference on Monday, Gujarat CM Vijay Rupani asserted that the Bharat Bandh call issued by the farmers shall not be successful in the state.

Bharat Bandh call issued by farmers shall t be successful in Gujarat, asserted Chief Minister Vijay Rupani. dressing a press briefing on Monday, Rupani claimed that farmers and Agricultural Produce Market Committees in state h t extended support to Bharat Bandh. He lamented that multiple political parties in country h decided to participate in shutdown on Tuesday.

Accusing Wayan MP Rahul Gandhi of inciting farmers, he recalled that Congress party h itself promised to repeal APMC Act in its 2019 Lok Sabha manifesto. Citing Congress' recent loss in Gujarat by-elections, Rupani contended that party did t enjoy support of farmers. Moreover, Gujarat CM assured that his government h me arrangements to ensure that violence takes place during bandh.

Gujarat CM Vijay Rupani remarked, " farmers and APMCs in Gujarat are t supporting (Bharat Bandh). Recently, Congress has lost elections very bly in rural areas. This is t situation in Gujarat. This bandh will t be successful tomorrow. government has me arrangements to ensure that violent incident takes place during bandh."

Opposition parties back Bharat Bandh call

On December 6, Congress, NCP, People's Alliance for Gupkar Declaration, CPI(M), CPI(ML), DMK, RJD, SP, CPI and All India Forward Bloc issued a statement backing Bharat Bandh. y expressed solidarity with farmers' protest and demanded repeal of three agrarian laws and Electricity Amendment Bill. Maintaining that new laws h been passed in Parliament in a "brazen anti-democratic manner", opposition parties alleged that this would pave way for destroying Indian agriculture and scrapping of MSP.

According to m, this was tantamount to mortgaging agriculture to caprices of multi-national and domestic corporates. Subsequently, or parties such as BSP, Shiv Sena, AAP, INLD, TRS, and S too backed call for a nationwide shutdown.
