After Supreme Court allowed Jagannath Rath Yatra in Puri, Gujarat government on Monday, will file a petition in Gujarat High Court seeking allowing Ahmedab Rath Yatra, said Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani. Previously, Ahmedab Jagannath temple authorities decided to move chariot of deity within premises of religious structure on Tuesday. Gujarat HC too h stayed yatra after SC's order staying yatra.

On Sunday, Chief priest of Lord Jagannath Temple, Mahant Dilip Dasji Maharaj said that 143rd Rath Yatra will t be taken out on its usual route. "re is a possibility of spre of infection if procession is taken out. "In view of high court order, it has been decided to organise 143rd procession at a small level- only within temple premises. Keeping this in mind, mangla aarti and or rituals will be held like every year," he said.

SC allows Rath Yatra
Revoking its stay order on Puri Yatra, Supreme Court bench heed by CJI Shar Arvind Bobde allowed Lord Jagannath Rath Yatra only in Puri under certain conditions. He asked Centre, state government, and Temple committee to work in tandem to conduct Rath Yatra. Moreover, apex court emphasised that re would be compromise on health of people amid COVID-19 outbreak. Puri has been put on complete lockdown for 48 hours in preparation, setting a set of conditions for holding festival amid Coronavirus pandemic.
Gujarat HC stays Ahmedab's Rath Yatra
Following SC, Gujarat High Court on Saturday ordered stay on holding of annual Rath Yatra in Ahmedab on coronavirus concerns. HC stayed procession in view of prevailing situation arising out of coronavirus after state government informed that yatra covers a route of around 18 km and approximately 7-8 lakh people will participate in it. Hgh Court expressed shock at government granting permission to yatra in May, amid rising COVID-19 cases.
