Hathras horror: Smriti Irani reveals call to UP CM Yogi before his referral of case to CBI

Amid outr over Hathras incident, Union Minister Smriti Irani said she h specifically contacted Uttar Presh Chief Minister Yogi ityanath on issue following which state government recommended a probe by Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). In a press conference on Monday, Irani declined to comment more on case and expressed faith in a probe by CBI.
Union Minister, hailing BJP-led government, also said, "re are a lot of laws BJP govt has implemented to make sure that women in country are safe."

Breaking her silence on case, Irani on Saturday h said she was informed that Women Commission has been in touch with state as well as district officials regarding incident, and have been trying to ensure justice for victim. "I personally spoke to UP CM and ticed that an SIT has been formed to investigate matter. Once SIT reports arrive, legal action will be taken against guilty officials." She h also slammed Gandhis for 'politicising' Hathras case.
UP CM transfers Hathras case to CBI
On Saturday, Uttar Presh CM Yogi ityanath ordered Hathras case to be transferred to Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). Anuncing this move in a tweet, office of Chief Minister said CM decided to hand over entire investigation into Hathras case to CBI so that all aspects related to case are investigated thoroughly. Chief Minister also ordered suspension of five police officers, including district's Police Superintendent (SP) Vikrant Vir for midnight funeral. A 3-member SIT is currently probing case and will submit its report within a week.

Meanwhile, Uttar Presh government on Sunday filed an FIR under various sections of IPC alleging criminal conspiracy to incite violence via incident.

Hathras case
Reports until Friday stated that 19-year-old woman h been gangraped by four upper-caste men in Hathras on September 14 in a field, leaving her in a critical condition. When her condition worsened, she was referred to AIIMS but was mitted to Safdarjung hospital in Delhi last Monday with spinal cord injuries, paralysis, and cuts in her tongue. She succumbed at around 3 am on Tuesday. case is currently subject of a huge amount of protest, with political parties also involved.

autopsy report said cause of death of victim was trauma due to a neck injury and didn't mention rape, following which UP G h contended same. Videos of victim's mor as well as original complaint said she h been strangled and named person who did it, t mentioning rape.
