Hindi Diwas: Asaduddin Owaisi slams Amit Shah's 'Hindi unifier' remark

All-India Majlis-e-Ittehul Muslimeen (AIMIM) President Asuddin Owaisi slammed Union Home Minister Amit Shah stating that idea of India was much bigger than Hindi langu, Hindu religion, and ideology of Hindutva. Owaisi was responding to Shah’s remarks on occasion of Hindi Day. Owaisi asserted that Hindi was t mor tongue of every Indian. He called upon Shah to appreciate diversity and beauty of all langus spoken in India. Citing Article 29 of Indian Constitution, he observed that every Indian h right to a distinct langu, script, and culture.

'Hindi langu is India's unifier'

Hindi Diwas is celebrated on September 14 every year to mark importance of day when Constituent Assembly opted Hindi as official langu of India. On Saturday, Union Home Minister opined on microblogging website Twitter that it was necessary for every country to have one langu which could represent its identity globally. While he mitted that many langus were spoken in India, he emphasised that Hindi was only langu that unified country. Shah also mentioned that Hindi was spoken by more people than any or langu. Moreover, he appealed to people to furr us of ir respective mor tongue and also speak in Hindi to fulfill dream of Mahatma Gandhi and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.

Later, dressing Hindi Diwas celebration at Vigyan Bhavan in New Delhi today, Shah contended that langus spoken in many countries of world h become extinct. He maintained that a country that let go off its langu, would also end up losing its culture as well as existence. Shah reiterated that diversity of langus and dialects was strength of India. However, he put forth need for country to have one langu to ensure that foreign langus did t dominate. Union Home Minister also reminded audience that India's freedom fighters h envisioned Hindi as National Langu. While English and Hindi have been designated as 'Official Langus' of country, India does t have any 'National Langu' as of w.
